Uniforms

General Policy

Every student attending the Jonathan Grant High School is required to wear his/her uniform to and from school every day of the school year. Apart from buttons and badges authorized by the school to indicate responsibilities, no nother insignia or decoration may be word with the school uniform. Students who are not attired in the correct uniform, which includes length of skirt and type of pants may be denied entry.

Students are not allowed to wear headgear, nail polish, make-up, untested glasses or jewelry (except a watch).

School Uniform – Boys

  • Brown Khaki Pants (No tight pants) and Brown Khaki Short-Sleeved Shirt
  • Black/Navy Blue Socks
  • Black Shoes (No laced up boots/booties/converse/sneakers)
  • Regular belts with no designer buckles (these designer buckles are being used as weapons) No heavy metal buckles – large or small
  • Hair – All boys regardless of race MUST have their hair properly groomed (should be cut low and should not be dyed).
  • Crests for grades 7 and 8 (these must be stitched on the left shirt pocket) – Ties for grades 9, 10 and 11.

 

School Uniform – Girls

  1. Uniform skirts are to be three inches below the knees (No short or tights skirts will be accommodated). This refers to all female students – Grades 7 – 11
  2. Skirts are to be made with box pleats (6 Box pleats – 3 to the back and 3 to the front) - Pleats should not be stitched down!
  3. Royal Blue blouses for Grade 7, 8 and 9 White blouses for Grades 10 and 11.
  4. No ribbons, dyed hair, braids, bandoos, and extensions will be allowed. Braids and coloured hair are not permitted at all. Grade 11 students, even during the final days prior to Graduation should remain fully and properly attired in the school uniform.
  5. Only black/dark blue/clips can be worn.
  6. Socks should be worn at least one (1) inch above the ankles.
  7. Navy Blue socks should be worn with flat-heeled BLACK SHOES
  8. Crests for Grades 7 and 8 (these must be stitched on to the left side of the blouse) – TIES will be worn for Grades 9, 10 and 11.

Permission must be obtained from the Vice Principals or, in their absence, from a senior teacher, to wear any form of clothing other than the school uniform.

Students are required to attend all school functions in uniforms unless otherwise advised by the school’s administration.
