Industrial Technology Department
The Industrial Technology Department shares in the celebration
of 25 years of existence of Jonathan Grant High School.
Having spent more that fifteen years here, various changes could not
have gone unnoticed.
Despite the challenges, the present administration remains
entrenched in its commitment to Vocational Education, and
therefore stands resolute in its support for the Jonathan Grant
Industrial Technology Department. The transformation of the once less equipped labs to evidently more
well equipped and maintained ones now bears testimony to this.
The Ministry of Education, through its supervision and workshops for
teacher development, coupled with the resources provided
by the school's administration, has placed the school as one of the
prime institutions that is providing skills training for our nation's
yourth. With competent teachers, the department has set high standards
in the skills training offered, and its achievements over the years
are numerous. A few examples of these achievements are detailed below.
- Students have achieved awards from the Caribbean Examination Council
(CXC) for outstanding achievement.
- Students who have received foundation training have gone on to
further studies and are at present employed as teachers in the
department.
- Students who have received training are now self-employed.
- Some have returned on a regular basis to express their appreciatioin
to teachers of the department and to the school for contributing to
their
development.
The department is proud of its achievements and remains committed to
its mission statement: To consistently provide young people with
foundation
training in various skills and attitudes to meet the demand of the
21st century, and as a catalyst for the world of work, for the
future training
or as entrepreneurs and to make worthwhile contributions to the wider
society.
