Home Economics Department Report
The Home Economics Department deems it an honour to have been
a part of the Jonathan Grant High School family for
the past 25 years. As the school celebrates its silver anniversary, the
department continues to keep the school's motto of
striving for excellence alive through adherence to its own objective of
adequately preparing students for succeeding in both
internal and external examinations
Since the school's inception in 1980, the Home Economics Department
has been a standard bearer in the area of Technical
Vocational Education. To date, the department continues to have a high
passing rate boasting passes of 80% and above in all
Home Economic subject areas entered at the G.C.S.E level. With a cadre
of professionally trained staff, the department
expects similar or better results in the ensuing years.
The department strives to uphold a motto which states:
Inspired to believe, motivated to achieve. In
order to survive in the present economic climate and to become
self-sufficient, the department has embarked on an on-going
fundraising venture. This has assisted in the passage of excellence for
which the school is acclaimed. With a practical
approach to the teaching of the triad Home Economics subjects, the
department has evolved into a proactive section of the
school where students and teachers enjoy symbiotic relationships in an
endeavour for success.
As the school begins another 25 years of excellence, the Home
Economics Department promises to be the forerunners
of distinction that it has always been.
