Jonathan Grant High

Spanish Department

The Spanish Department of Jonathan Grant High School, formerly one segment of the Language Department up to July 2003, has made a positive impact in the life of the school as well as the outside community. This noteworthy accomplishment rests on the efforts of a cadre of qualified teaching personnel who are highly supported by the school's administration.

Mission

The Spanish Department aims to strengthen the intellectual capabilities and cultural appreciation of students by exposing them to the Spanish Language in a rich cultural environment. This experience serves to deepen the students' understanding of Hispanic customs, norms and ways of thinking.

Students are equipped to communicate with speakers of Spanish either by means of written or by means of spoken word through the employment of communicative teaching techniques by a cadre of qualified teaching personnel.

The Spanish Club

The Spanish Club seeks to provide students with an opportunity to interact with the Spanish language and culture in a meaningful way. Students encounter authentic Spanish culture through poetry, song, dance, speech and theatre, as well as games.

The Club aims to strengthen student's skills and develop their competence through the involvement in benefit performances and competition.
